Flick Haigh will be the first woman competing in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS n°75 of Optimum Motorsport along with Joe Osborne. The Castellet round will be their first race in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup.
You will be the first woman competing in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup, how do you feel about this?
I am looking forward to it; it’s a new challenge for me as I have for the past few years concentrated on Endurance racing. I have heard good comments about the championship so I ‘m excited to make our debut in Paul Ricard.
Can you tell us a bit more about your career?
I started racing back in 2007 in a Caterham; I have progressed up through GT4 cars and prototypes. I joined Optimum Motorsport this year and have been driving the Audi R8 LMS this season in the Creventic series.
Have you ever driven Le Castellet track, if yes what do you think about it? If not, how will you tackle this track?
Yes I have driven Le Castellet previously, a couple of years ago in a Prototype in the VdeV Endurance series and more recently in the 24hour race last month in the Audi. It’s a circuit I have always liked; it is fast and flowing yet technical.
What are your expectations for this first race in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup?
My main aim of any race weekend is to do the best I can, I enjoy new challenges and a shorter race format will bring the need for outright pace throughout the race. We hope to be at the sharp end, Optimum is an experienced team and the Audi suits very much this circuit.
